A pop-up audio installation for Cloud Nine, a community festival centring on the Cumberland Market Estate in Camden. The commission was designed to fit the theme, ‘heritage’, with local organisations Old Diorama Arts and West Euston Partnership both celebrating landmark birthdays.
After speaking with residents and community groups local to the Kings Cross and Euston area, an online archive of interviews was created to showcase their stories from the last 40 years. For the festival, these voices were ‘bottled’ in sweet jars; placing your ear to the opening became a neatly intimate way for audience members to engage with memories and fitting for a village fete style of the event. Vistors were also invited to share their stories at the Conversation Booth, a pop up space that allowed people to record their stories without an interviewer.
